Local University Students Get Small Business Internships – Scranton PA

The Small Business Internship Initiative is at it again! The Internship Initiative paired two University of Scranton students with Carl Von Luger Steak & Seafood and Terra Preta to gain hands-on experience as interns.

Melissa Hernandez is interning at Carl Von Luger Steak & Seafood and Erin Fetsko is interning at Terra Preta in downtown Scranton. They both started their internships in November 2015 and will finish in May 2016.

“I think that this internship has been very hands on,” Hernandez said when asked for feedback about her time as an intern so far. “The most valuable skill has been
communicating.”

Erin Fetsko said her experience met her expectations because she focused on social media and event planning duties which they discussed at the beginning of the internship.

“I was originally thinking finance career, but this gives different experience,” Fetsko said.

Carl Von Luger is owned by Bob Dickert and Terra Preta is owned by his daughter, Trish Dickert-Nieves, and Gregory Nieves.

“I would love to offer another internship; helpful as a business owner; hours right when the day began,” Dickert-Nieves said.
