This week, we are celebrating Women Entrepreneurship Week! Today, our Women’s Entrepreneurship Center hosted a “Coffee & Confidence” session on Improving Your Networking Skills.
The University of Scranton Women’s Entrepreneurship Center (WEC) is a partnership between the Kania School of Management (KSOM) and Small Business Development Center (SBDC). WEC student interns and SBDC staff offer business start-up information, guidance, and encouragement to low-income women, those in transition or those trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. They do this by offering individual, confidential consulting and programs such as Coffee & Confidence – a 1-hour inspiration session and StartUP, a 6-week series that walks participants through the process of starting a business.
More than 200 universities and college in 30 countries and 43 states, plus D.C., in the U.S. will host WEW 2019 events on their respective campuses. It is easy to join the WEW global movement, and have your university or college host an event during the official Women Entrepreneurship Week dates. In 2019, the sixth annual Women Entrepreneurship Week will be held Oct. 19-26, 2019. Any college or university is welcome to participate in WEW. All you have to do is hold an event related to women during the designated week. There is no cost/fee to be involved. Each university or college has the flexibility to design its own event. A program can be a big public event or it can be a small gathering of students listening to a woman entrepreneur. The only requirements are that the event focus on women entrepreneurs, and be held sometime during the designated week. For more information, visit their website.
