David Haikes joined The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as a Business Assistance Specialist for the Northern Tier in August 2026. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in 2024.

Prior to joining the SBDC, David worked with the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce, where he gained hands-on experience supporting the region’s business community through marketing, communications, events, and member engagement. In this role, he worked closely with businesses and community organizations throughout Wyoming County and the surrounding region while helping promote local programs, events, and opportunities.

A native of Scranton, David grew up in a family business and saw firsthand the dedication, hard work, and challenges that come with owning and operating a small business. That experience gave him an early appreciation for entrepreneurship and the important role small businesses play in their communities. His time working with the Chamber further strengthened his interest in helping local business owners overcome challenges, identify opportunities, and access the resources they need to succeed.

As a Business Assistance Specialist, David works with entrepreneurs and existing small business owners throughout the Northern Tier, connecting them with SBDC consulting services, educational programs, and other resources to help them start, manage, and grow their businesses. He looks forward to building relationships throughout the region and helping business owners turn their ideas and goals into actionable plans.

Outside of work, David enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, golfing, playing guitar, and spending time with family and friends.
