Get Found on Google
How to make sure your Google My Business listing helps grow your business
The name “Google” is synonymous with searching information on the Internet—in fact, the word itself has been recognized by the Oxford English Dictionary as a verb in the English language!
With more than one trillion Google searches conducted each year and the average person conducting between three and four searches each day, it’s easy to see why Google has truly cornered the market on Internet searches.
Thanks to Google My Business, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to list their business locations on Google Maps and in local search results by displaying important information, such as operation times, contact information, and a link to the business website. Even online businesses without a brick-and-mortar storefront are now taking advantage of Google My Business as it helps get their name in front of potential customers.
How can business owners optimize their Google My Business listings? It all comes down to accuracy. First, make sure to Google search your business so you can see what’s listed, then follow these suggestions to make sure your listing truly showcases your business.
- Make sure your business address is correct. Did your business recently move? Has your address changed for another reason? Perhaps you closed your physical location in favor of an online store due to the pandemic? Make sure that your current address is what’s listed in your Google My Business listing or else you might miss out on customers or clients.
- Make sure your hours are up-to-date. If you have recently changed your business’s hours of operation, be sure that they reflect in your Google My Business listing, or you might have customers arriving when you’re closed, which can negatively affect your brand.
- Make sure there is a way to contact your business. Whether it’s a telephone number or an email address you check often, be sure that customers or clients have the opportunity to contact you with any questions they might have.
