Change is Good!

Change.  It’s gonna happen.

Call me a stick in the mud, but I’m not good with change. Ask anyone who knows me.  Whether it’s new technology or expecting to receive a hand written note rather than a text for a gift, my feet are dragging.

In the world of business, change is inevitable.  In James A. Belasco’s book, Teaching the Elephant to Dance, he says, “Markets continually change.  Customers continually change. Technology continually changes.  Competitors continually change.  Each change triggers the need to create a new tomorrow.  The active leader, identifies this need and moves quickly to develop a new strategic approach.”  www.belasco.com/elephant.htm

While we know this is true, why do entrepreneurs hold back when clearly change is necessary?  It’s different for everyone, but the common denominator is fear. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of doing something different.

Let the Small Business Development Center help you identify changes you need to make in your business.  Now is the time to schedule an appointment with one of our SBDC consultants.  We’ll analyze your business from  financial position to marketing.  Start the New Year with a clear picture of what 2012 holds for you.
