Today, Safer Internet Dayis celebrated all around the world and is meant to promote safe use of digital technology. Safer Internet Day is celebrated every year in February and always promotes a different theme. This years theme is “Together for a Better Internet”
At first, Safer Internet Daywas for businesses that offers tool and resources to keep people safe online, such as anti-virus companies. These companies would promote awareness to the problems that young people are facing when it comes to online safety and also to promote their products. However, this celebration of Safer Internet Dayhas expanded to all entrepreneurs other than cybersecurity companies.
Therefore, if your company has social media or a website, promote online safety for your customers. This will show your customers that you are a responsible establishment and that your company cares about this issue in today’s digital world. A few things you can do on your website to promote this day is:
- If customers have a login for your website, encourage them to change their password!
- On your homepage, encourage some tips to make a strong password such as using capital letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Encourage customers to never leave their computer unaccompanied while turned on.
- Show that you care: Use your social media to advertise the importance of this issue by using current events about people experiencing problems with online safety!
