#BusinessTipTuesday – Employee Appreciation Day

This week on Business Tip Tuesday we are celebrating Employee Appreciation Day. Employee Appreciation Day fell on Friday, March 1stbut employees are too important not to celebrate! For those of you who own your own small business, your employees are probably one of your most valuable assets. It is important to make your employees feel just how important they are to your small businesses success. Happy employees make for a better customer experience and can often be the differentiating factor between you and a competitor. Choosing how many employs to hire for your small business can be difficult but it is important to follow this general rule of thumb:

  • Hire enough employees to keep you from being overwhelmed, but not too many where they end up running out of actual work to do!

It is a good idea to always remind your employees of the great job that they are doing (and make sure to tell them when they aren’t) and every once in a while giving them a little token of appreciation can definitely boost employee morale. This certainly doesn’t have to be in monetary form, and can be something as small as a gift card for coffee during the holidays or something that you made of your own. Giving a little goes a long way for those that are working hard to support you and your business. As an employee myself, knowing that the work I do is meaningful and appreciated keeps me wanting to give my best effort at work every time I show up!
