How do I become an internet incubator
client?
Currently in order to become a client of
the Internet Incubator, you need to be an existing business, and need to
be a client of the Small Business Development Center. Once a
client of the SBDC your business counselor will work with you to prepare
your business plan and marketing plan. This will assist the
business in determining how they can best use the web to market their
product or service. Then based on demand... the SBDC will work with the
client to get the internet aspect of their business off the ground.
How much will all of this cost ?
The SBDC will assist the client in
preparing its e-business plan, and marketing plan at no cost. In
addition an SBDC consultant will work with the client to understand what
is involved in building a web
site which can be used in collaboration with the clients other marketing
activities. This service is also offered at no cost to the client*.
Approximate costs associated with web site
construction:
- Domain registration. ( $25 each year )
- $15-$20/month for hosting of web page
- Approx $300/month for Internet Service
Provider account
* Full blown e-commerce web sites will
require additional hosting and construction costs and are considered
separate from the incubator services.
Who will be able to see my web site?
Once your web site has been constructed
it can be viewed by anyone on the planet who has access to the World
Wide Web. However the most difficult job in the creation of any web site
is letting people know your site exists. Creating a marketing plan
that includes marketing of your web site is vital. Also, it is
important to have a substantial marketing budget.
What do I need to do ?
Contact the University of Scranton Small
Business Development Center. At that time you will be assigned a
consultant who will assist you in preparing your e-business and
marketing plans. These are vital tools for understanding how
maximize the exposure of your web site.
