AWARD FOR WOMAN ENTREPRENEUR

About the AWE Award

• The Award is given to one inspiring woman entrepreneur per year, with three additional “Women of Merit” being recognized.

• The Award is a component of The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center's outreach to woman-owned businesses, and is done in cooperation with Lehigh University SBDC and Wilkes University SBDC.

• The Award Program was created in 1995 and now covers a 17-county area in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania .

• Applications for the Award are accepted from eligible woman-owned businesses.  In order to be eligible for the program, the business must be at least 51% woman-owned and in business for three or more years.  Nominations for the award may be submitted by anyone, including the business owner herself.

• The AWE applicant is judged on:
  • Product/Service
  • Overcoming of obstacles and challenges (Ability to overcome obstacles and challenges)
  • Community Involvement and personal accomplishments
  • How the business has evolved over time
