AWARD FOR WOMAN ENTREPRENEUR

The Award

• Is given to one inspiring woman entrepreneur per year, with “Women of Merit” certificates given to an additional three finalists.
   
• Is coordinated by The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC), in partnership with the Lehigh University and Wilkes University SBDCs.
   
• Was first given in 1996 and covers a 17-county area in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: Bradford, Bucks, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne, or Wyoming.
   
• Nominees must own and operate a business within the 17-county area, must be in business three years or more, and must be 51% woman-owned.  Nominations for the award can be submitted by anyone, including the nominee herself.
   
• AWE nominees are judged on the following categories:
  • Product/Service
  • Overcoming of Obstacles and Challenges
  • Community Involvement and Personal Accomplishments
  • Business Growth
